In 2008, Leon High School started its annual cancer fundraiser in honor of our faculty and staff who were battling the disease, many of whom have been treated at the Tallahassee Memorial Hospital’s Cancer Center. Over the last fifteen years, we have cumulatively raised over $500,000. Donated to TMH’s Cancer Center and other programs, this money has benefited hundreds of local lives while increasing student awareness and general spirit within the community. This could not have been achieved without the dedication and generosity of Leon’s students, families, and alumni, along with the Tallahassee community and businesses.
Our goal this year is $40,000. With that amount, we can help provide financial assistance to those in need of treatment along with funds for additional patient services. These funds can help pay for transportation to the center for treatment, diagnostic testing, meals for patients, and extra items like warm blankets that add to the overall comfort of patients during treatment. As we work toward this goal, we are hoping to call upon you to contribute to and support our fundraiser that is taking place from September 26th to October 7th, 2022. Without the help of this community, not only would the monetary amount be impossible, but the investment of students’ hearts and energy in such a worthy cause would be unattainable.
As a community, we have faced many new and difficult circumstances within the last couple of years. We understand that this is a challenging time for many businesses and want to make it clear that any form of donation is appreciated. While monetary donations may not be available for your business at this time, in-kind or service donations are helpful for our fundraiser. We are thankful for every donation no matter how big or small. The Tallahassee community has always accepted the challenge of helping others, and we hope this year will be no exception - help us make this the best one yet!
